Impacting our Community - Shannon O'Brien
Legacy is more than just helping the people we see in front of us, but it creates a ripple effect for the generations before and after.
What I love about Legacy is the heart behind it and the real impact it is going to have on the generations to come. Volunteering in Red Frogs, I have seen thousands of people making the same bad decisions that generations have been doing for many years. As a part of Legacy, we get an opportunity to play a part in being able to commit to providing $20 million worth of community impact each year throughout our nation.
At 21 years of age, I have seen so many of my friends make mistakes influenced by alcohol or drugs and end up in situations which break my heart. Being part of LIFE and Red Frogs, I get the opportunity to see hundreds of people willing to give up their personal time to go out into the community and to provide a positive presence and practical support within our nation. I have seen Red Frogs help young people through panic attacks, come alongside people whilst they are throwing up, seen people rededicate their life to Christ and so much more.
Legacy is more than just helping the people we see in front of us, but it creates a ripple effect for the generations before and after. I have talked to many parents who are utterly grateful that there are people out there helping to safeguard a generation and patrons who couldn’t imagine where they would be without us having looked after them during an event.
Red Frogs is only one of the initiates we have within LIFE Community alongside LIFE Soup Kitchen, Christmas Box, CAP (Christians against Poverty) and many local initiatives. Together, LIFE Community has an opportunity to make an impact in thousands of people’s lives, in all different stages in life.
We are creating a generational echo and I am so excited to where we will go next!
