Vision -

In 2020 London is booming.  The capital is the city of choice for investors from the booming economies on the Indian sub-continent and in Asia.  It is the financial capital of the western world.

London’s appeal is not just connectivity and the benefits of geography, but the way the city has refreshed itself.  The London 2012 Games drew attention to a London for a new generation.  Building on the strengths of East London: youthfulness, diversity and a vibrant creative enterprise culture, the vast Olympic estate has become “New Generation London”, a magnet for new generation businesses, cutting edge environmental technologies and new cultural expression.  The area is alive with diverse young people, moving between leading edge educational facilities with direct routes into employment.  A new generation of sporting excellence is nurtured in academies based in the remaining signature buildings.  The former Olympic Broadcast Centre is a hub for new digital broadcast companies.  Vast film sets and TV studios are linked into massive data-servers.  Across London IT savvy young people, working from home, are completing contracts on post-production tasks.  Creative hubs in White City, Pinewood and Soho are working remotely from the main hub.  Visitors from home and abroad pour through “New Generation London” drawn by cultural zones that boast a Tate East, tourist attractions and performance spaces supported by incubators for leading edge designers and artisans and performers who benefit from peppercorn rents.

New Generation London is woven into the urban fabric and aspirations of the local population.  Thousands of new ecologically designed homes for all levels of income benefit from the new economy on their doorstep and a new generation park with activity trails, rafting, and urban beach.  Towering over the park is Jean-Luc Courcoult's “Tree of life”, built on a mammoth scale with streets and restaurants along its branches and pods in the leafy canopy that fly out to give a breathtaking view of the city below.   The park is alive throughout the year with the rhythm of local cultural festivals and family-friendly attractions.  New Generation London reflects its Olympic heritage in bringing people together and connecting communities.

The buzz of New Generation London has repositioned East London in the minds of Londoners and inward investors.  The Lower Lea Valley is developing as a new Water City and the Thames Gateway is peppered with cranes, building out London to the East.
